Alicia Avalon
Alicia is brilliant well beyond her sixteen years and rightfully belongs in graduate school striving for her PhD. But her parents, as much as they love her, are just a tad quirky when it comes to their daughter’s education. Although she was enrolled in an elite college-prep school since kindergarten (on a full scholarship, no less), her parents refused to allow Alicia to skip any grades. Some advanced courses were permitted, however — for the mere fact that they would allow her GPA to climb higher than 4.0. Alicia’s parents would rather her be their “big fish in a small pond” (with which comes twelve-plus years of bragging rights) than advance her to a level at which she might actually face some equal competition. Little did they realize she’d outshine THAT competition, too, if given the opportunity.
Alicia dashed her parents’ aspirations of her becoming the highest-ranking valedictorian in the history of her school when she came home one day with an A-… on a college-level nuclear physics exam. Apparently, Alicia was too confident in her ability to pass the test and was devising her own solutions to physics improbabilities while forgetting to review the basics. That, and she inadvertently neglected to fill in one of the circles on her answer sheet. This exam grade had no chance of slightly altering her A+ average in the class, much less her GPA, but Mr. and Mrs. Avalon felt that their dream for her was now a lost cause.
To teach their daughter a lesson about never forgoing the basics in lieu of concentrating on things that might actually present a challenge, Alicia’s parents administered the worst punishment imaginable: a transfer to PUBLIC SCHOOL. Initially, Alicia was scared of studying at a level so beneath her, and perhaps her seemingly-aloof demeanor scared off a few potential friends she stood to make. However, CORD worries not about such things, and found that Alicia’s solitude only served to make her more approachable. (It’s better if there’s no one around to hear her scream.). The concept of a brilliant — even a moderately intelligent — woman being far beyond the grasp of his puny, one-track mind, Cord brushes off her academic speak as meaningless gibberish and instead focuses on her voluptuous PHYSICAL assets. Alicia senses some questionable behavior in Cord, but due to being socially awkward, she repeatedly finds herself underestimating how far he’s willing to go to get into a girl’s pants. She’s also somewhat fascinated by his antics, thinking he might make a fine subject for an in-depth social experiment. Thus, while she doesn’t view Cord as a friend (or even a human being, really), she interacts with him in a reasonably civil manner – which is a first for Cord when it comes to women and encourages his advances all the more. |
